What you’ll do:
Step into a world where mosaics come alive! We’re moving beyond the traditional mosaic trivet and mobiles to introduce a mosaic on a plate, the MOSPlatter, which currently features a Mosaic Willi Wag Tail! Other bird patterns may be available in your workshop at OzMosaics.
A fabulous mosaic bird on a dinner plate, with a wonderful border of slate! Create a beautiful 3D flower to adorn the platter, nipped from colourful vitreous mosaic tiles. This mosaic will elevate your mosaic interest and learning curve.
All students enjoy a comfortable worktable, fully-equipped with everything needed (loaner tools, comfy chair, safety glasses, mosaic materials, apron and more!).
Students grout and learn other fun stuff up at the big grouting workbench!
Watch Sandy's instructions live and up on a big screen during the class! Relax for lunch and breaks poolside. Be inspired by mosaics everywhere! Wait till you see the mosaic bathrooms!
This one-day workshop is a whirlwind of learning and creativity. You’ll master the basics and Sandy’s unique techniques, enabling you to expand your mosaic repertoire.
Experience the push-in mosaic method, direct mosaic method, mosaic on mesh method using a range of tessera (mosaic materials) such as vitreous glass mosaic tiles, slate, shell, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, smalti, stained glass etc.
It’s a hands-on day filled with creativity and fun! Your head will be spinning with ideas after making your mosaic of a Willi Wag Tail bird on a dinner plate!
Workshop A kickstarts beginners and experienced mosaic makers - lots of Sandys amazing tips and tricks!
Book into Workshop B after completing Workshop A as it covers it all regarding 3D pique assiette/crockery and more!
What you’ll take home:
A mosaic of a Willi WagTail (or perhaps another bird) fully grouted on a mosaic plate. The mosaic features a 3D mosaic flower made from vitreous mosaic glass tiles. Hanging is preinstalled so display your mosaic on a wall or find a lovely place to display it flat (garden, table etc).
A take-home folder of sampler cuts, andamento/opus/basic reference notes is provided to each student.
