Hello, mosaic makers! I'm Sandy Robertson, founder of OzMosaics, and I’m here to ignite your passion for smalti mosaics. For over 25 years, I’ve been shaping, arranging, and breathing life into mosaic masterpieces, and now, I invite you to join me for a fabulous weekend of mosaics, in our Smalti mosaic workshop in Brisbane.

At our Brisbane studio and online store, The Mosaic Mall, you'll find everything from antique and modern smalti bricks and slabs to exclusive gold-leaf smalti that adds pure magic to your designs. And yes, we have Italian hammers and hardies - everything you need to make mosaics! Grout, adhesives, thinsets, sealers, mosaic fibreglass mesh, smalti, glass tiles, vitreous tiles, millefiori, tools, substrates, slate, mosaic light weight board etc!
The OzMosaics Workshop Experience
Set in the vibrant heart of Coorparoo, Brisbane, our workshops immerse you in the rich, radiant hues of Dynasty & selected Orsoni smalti, an affordable yet luxurious glass bursting with creative possibilities. You’ll craft a fantasy mosaic diva, adorned with smalti & mixed media flowers, learning how to contour, facet, and blend colours . The pattern is prepped for you on your substrate, ready to go! We will discuss pattern making, designs, opus and andamento!
Your Mosaic Mural
Your creation will be A4-sized, designed on cement sheeting and waterproofed with Hydroban. Using our unique OzMosaics border treatment, you’ll develop a stunning, professional piece that comes ready to hang—hardware included!
All the Tools & Techniques You Need
From classic tile nippers and Leponitt wheeled nippers, tile nippers, files plus our premium Italian hammers and hardies, we’ve got everything you need to carve, shape, and nip your mosaic tesserae. If you own a hammer and hardie, bring them along! Sandy shares her tips & tricks to make the intricate mosaic eye and other special mosaic features in this project.
Shop for Smalti & Test Your Tools! After the workshop, you'll have a fantastic opportunity to shop for smalti and try out different hammers and hardies to find the perfect fit for your mosaic-making style.
